Jessica McKinnon’s official transition from male to female only began in June 2005, at age 30, after struggling for years with the confusion resulting from thoughts that she should really have been born as a girl, with female anatomy and physiology (among other factors). What follows is a brief account of those first 30 years, as well as her account of the last 3 years after finally making the decision that transitioning from male to female was really the only remaining hope and option open to her to find inner peace of both mind and body.
Despite Jessica’s original, given name being Jason, she is referred to in this account by her new name and female pronouns throughout, to match her inner gender identity that she has always felt from a very young age.
Very few transsexual biographies on the web include before and after pictures, and many transsexual people just starting out on their journey find it particularly helpful to see that even if you looked like one gender before, it really is possible to transform your appearance quite dramatically. In Jessica's case, the transformation that you see in the pictures above, as well as in the pages that follow have not involved any surgical intervention (yes, she has had genital surgery, but she has not undergone any facial reconstruction or body contouring).
